Visshudha Chakra

Throat chakra

The Visshudha Chakra is next upwards from the Anahata Chakra.

It’s derived from “Vish” (Poison) and “Shhudh” (Pure). It is also called Throat Chakra. It symbolizes creativity and self-expression. It is located on the fifth rung in the Kundalini ascension path of six chakras (seventh being the destination).

This chakra is associated with the purification, balancing, and harmonizing at the physical, mental and spiritual levels.  A person’s ability to express himself and communicate effectively is related to this chakra. It deals with the issues of the purification of our breath, food, our thoughts, and emotions.

The functioning of the organs in the throat region thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, neck, teeth, gums, esophagus, cervical bones, arms, shoulders, vocal cords, arms, and mouth come under the purview of Visshudha Chakra.

An imbalance here can cause issues related to mouth ulcers, gum & tooth problems, sore throat, stiff neck, goiter, thyroid-related problems, laryngitis, and hearing problems like tinnitus.

It's related to creativity and self-expression, learning, and wisdom.

Perfection of this chakra endows one with certain psychic powers and Sidhis e.g. vision of past, present, and future; freedom from disease, decay, and old age; Vaksiddhi (power of manifesting through words).
